Types of coaching and structure of Cohesion`s coaching programmes
Traditional coaching focuses on the efficiency and effectiveness of the client in a particular setting - referred to as performance coaching. Meta-coaching takes this two steps further: in addition to performance coaching, meta-coaching provides a formal structure for developmental coaching and transformational coaching.
- Performance coaching increases the level of output of the client.
- Developmental coaching invites the client to step into new territory to develop new skills, based on new values, beliefs and attitudes.
- Transformational coaching occurs when the client achieves a life-changing breakthrough to achieve their highest potential; this is the territory of self-actualisation.

In addition to and across these three levels of coaching are two more dimensions: free-form coaching and process coaching.
Free-form coaching provides the client with as much flexibility as he or she needs in making a specific change in a specific situation. At the level of performance coaching this may take the form of coaching a project manager through a particular project, for example. Free-form coaching is also powerful at the developmental and transformational levels, for example coaching an executive in revitalising her life after retirement.
Process coaching provides more structure to a coaching programme. The process coaching programmes are continually evolving, but currently include
- Project Management Competency Development
- Leadership Development
- Team Development
- Personal Mastery - finding and living your purpose
